Personal Summary
Her research focuses on the Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), particularly in trusted and distributed infrastructure management, inclusive digital transformation, and design led technology development. Dr. Rea holds a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), where her thesis was titled “Dynamic Route Management Strategies for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks.” She also earned a Master of Engineering from CIT, investigating “Uniform Random Number Generation Using Pseudorandom Binary Sequences.” Additionally, she has a Diploma in Project Management from CIT, an M.Sc. in Information Theory, Coding & Cryptography from University College Cork, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic Engineering from CIT. Dr. Rea is a Principal Investigator at CONNECT, the Research Ireland Centre for Future Networks and Communications and the ADVANCE Centre for Research Training. Beyond her research, Dr. Rea is an advocate for women in STEM. She serves as an Athena SWAN champion and actively engages with networks across the higher education sector to promote gender equality in science and technology fields.
